Chilliwack – On Thursday October 1st at 7pm join Chilliwack Purple Light Nights as they begin their annual campaign at the Chilliwack RCMP station (Airport Road).
The Purple Light Nights campaign is a community initiative bringing intimate partner violence out of the shadows and into public awareness, by lighting homes, businesses and public buildings purple throughout October. This campaign, honours victims, supports survivors, and sends a clear message that violence has no place in our community.
The RCMP invite the public to join us and our community partners for the annual Purple Light Nights ceremony to mark October as Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month.
This community sponsored awareness campaign which originated in King County, Washington, in 2007, is launched with the annual illumination of purple lights to raise awareness of intimate partner violence and its effects on children and families.
