Home Sales Double In Chilliwack – No Surprise

Chilliwack – The headlines from Vancouver media make the big proclamation.

More people are giving up, trying to fins an affordable home in Metro and heading out to the Fraser Valley.

Locals in the Fraser Valley Real Estate industry have been seeing this trend expanding for quite some time, and no one in the Valley is speechless over this. In fact, the real estate industry is ticked pink. Or green – for the cash they are bringing in through construction and commission.

Home sales in Chilliwack have doubled in the past year and Mayor Sharon Gaetz says the secret is out.

“The average price of a home in the Wack is $384,000, which is still significantly lower than anything you can buy in the rest of the Lower Mainland.”

“And that is up from last March by 20 per cent but still significantly lower than anything you can buy in the rest of the Lower Mainland.”

What City Hal, the Chamber of Commerce and the business movers and shakers would like to see, is to attract more long-term and commerce and to avoid becoming strictly a bedroom community.
