Chilliwack – FEBRUARY 21 UPDATE – One week after declaring that Michael Geoghegan would be the BC Conservative candidate for Chilliwack- CUltus Lake in the October 19 vote, comes a major turn of events.
Health issues have forced him to withdraw.
Angelo Isidorou, executive director of the Conservative Party of BC issued a media statement on February 21, “We thank Michael for stepping up and we all are completely behind him in his health journey.”
Geoghegan ran for Victoria mayor in 2018 and relocated to Chilliwack for employment reasons.
So as of the 21st, the BC Conservatives do not have candidates for both Chilliwack ridings.
FEBRUARY 14 ORIGINAL STORY The Conservative Party of British Columbia has nominated Michael Geoghegan as their candidate in Chilliwack-Cultus Lake. The Provincial election is slated for October 19.

Over the past twenty-five years, Michael has worked intermittently as a consultant with the Sto:lo Nation and various member bands, fostering a deep connection with Chilliwack and its residents.
As a father of two adult children, he understands the economic challenges facing young people. He aims to address them by advocating for policies that alleviate burdensome taxes, such as the provincial carbon tax.
“A return to common sense, freedom and prosperity are my top priorities for Chilliwack-Cultus Lake. For too long, our province has lost sight of its potential due to poor leadership from the NDP. Under a Conservative government, I look forward to restoring economic prosperity in Chilliwack and beyond.”
“Our party is fortunate to have Michael Geoghegan running for us, ” John Rustad said. “His experience in government relations is going to be vital for the people of Chilliwack-Cultus Lake and the province. During his time in politics, he had several notable accomplishments. This included the implementation of a provincial apprenticeship training tax credit, facilitating a significant land claim settlement for the Okanagan Indian Band, increasing funding and operating hours for public MRIs in B.C., and aiding Seaspan in securing a contract vital to the west coast shipbuilding industry.”
