Chilliwack – Chilliwack Salvation Army Summer Food Drive will be at the Chilliwack Alliance Church Parking lot On Saturday June 24.
This runs from 10am-2pm, and in addition, the Chilliwack Fire Dept, RCMP and Search and Rescue will be stationed at every major grocery store collecting donations of cash and non-perishable food between 10am-2pm.
Why are the Salvation Army doing a summer food drive? There are a few major reasons, the first being that donations are down 60% from last year and the current food supply will only last another 2 months max.
Meanwhile, Food Bank demand is up 300% since 2020, and they are now doing over 1000 hampers every month, including 500/month for the Starfish backpack program, and 300/month for 8-10 local charities, including Cyrus Centre, Anne Davis, Wilma’s and Senior Resource Society.
