Abboysford (Abbotsford Police Department) – Long Weekend Recap: Sept 4th to Sept 8th
Between Friday at 5:00 p.m. & Tuesday at 6:00 a.m., AbbyPD frontline officers responded to 428 calls for service.
Friday Night
Officers responded to 63 calls. Calls included assaults, disturbances, mental health-related incidents, threats, thefts, & fights, among other matters. No major incidents were reported.
Saturday
Additional officers were deployed during the day to monitor a protest along South Fraser Way. At its peak, approx. 25 people attended, & no concerns were noted. Patrol officers also conducted a speed enforcement initiative along Old Yale Rd between Delair Park & ARC.
Overnight, extra officers were assigned to support a concert at Rogers Arena. A total of 8 individuals were ejected for intoxication-related issues. Later in the shift, officers responded to a shooting on McCallum Road. No injuries were reported, & the investigation remains ongoing. Officers also removed 2 impaired drivers from the road.
Sunday
A total of 43 additional officers were deployed for the Nagar Kirtan Procession. Aside from a few lost children who were quickly reunited with their families, no significant incidents occurred. The event was well attended.
Overnight, officers responded to 65 calls for service. During the shift, five impaired drivers were located & removed from the road.
Monday
Day shift was relatively routine. Officers conducted foot patrols in downtown Abbotsford & engaged in proactive traffic enforcement. No major incidents were reported overnight. Officers removed 2 impaired drivers from the road & impounded two vehicles for excessive speed.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, officers responded to a mental health-related incident on Mayfair Ave. A less-lethal shotgun was deployed, allowing officers to safely apprehend a man who was flailing around a hammer.

Proactive Traffic enforcement efforts led to:
15 impaired drivers removed, & 140 violation tickets being issued. By the end of the long weekend, 6 individuals were held in custody.
