Abbotsford – Last week, a video circulated on social media showing a dump truck passing a stopped school bus on Lefeuvre Road while the bus’s red warning lights were activated and its stop signs were deployed. The incident generated significant public concern and discussion online.
In response, AbbyPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit launched an investigation and worked closely with the Abbotsford School District to obtain and review video footage from the school bus. Through the investigation, officers were able to identify the dump truck involved and issue a violation ticket for failing to stop for a school bus, an offence carrying a $368 fine.
The safety of children travelling to and from school remains a priority for AbbyPD. Motorists are reminded that when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop signs deployed, they are legally required to stop.
