Cultus Lake – Chilliwack RCMP is investigating a series of vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles believed to be related that have been reported throughout Chilliwack, including the Cultus Lake area, since the end of June 2026.
The increase in reported thefts has generated community concern and discussion on local social media platforms. The RCMP wants to reassure residents that police closely monitor crime trends and use crime analysis to identify emerging patterns, locations of concern, and individuals believed to be involved in criminal activity.
As a result of a coordinated investigation between Chilliwack RCMP Frontline and the Priority Target Team, a suspect was arrested on September 2, 2026, in connection with several of the reported thefts.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather evidence related to several of the reported stolen vehicles that were later recovered throughout Chilliwack. A Report to Crown Counsel will be forwarded for charge assessment once the investigation has concluded.
“Property theft has a significant impact on victims and create understandable concern within the community,” says Cpl. Carmen Kiener, spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. “Our officers and analysts closely monitor crime trends and work collaboratively to identify and hold those responsible accountable. We want the public to know these investigations remain a priority, and we are committed to keeping our communities safe.”
