Wind warning in effect for:
- Fraser Valley – central including Chilliwack
- Fraser Valley – east including Hope
Very strong wind gusts that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
An
intense Pacific cold front is forecast to move across the Fraser Valley
this evening. Consequently, light northeast winds today will increase
abruptly to southwest 60 km/h gusting up to 100 this evening. Winds will
diminish after midnight tonight as the front moves into the interior.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may
occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or
damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions
due to high winds.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
Another
in a series of intense low pressure systems will produce strong south
or southeast winds today. The winds will shift abruptly to the southwest
and increase to 70 km/h with gusts as high as 90 early this evening in
the wake of this system. The winds will ease late this evening.

- Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt
Heavy snowfall with blowing snow is expected.
A very intense Pacific cold front is forecast to move across the Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt section tonight.

centimetres of snow and wind with gusts to 90 km/h will contribute to
very poor visibility in blowing snow beginning this evening.
The winds will ease overnight with snow tapering to flurries by Saturday morning.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow
and blowing snow. Poor weather conditions may contribute to
transportation delays.
