Chilliwack – On the heels of two Chilliwack forums on the homeless, comes an interesting discovery.
Porta Potties and sharps containers have been put in place by city staff at three locations, but the portable washrooms in the parking lot of the Chilliwack Business Centre have been removed. The sharps container for used needles remains. (The twin washrooms were put up in August).
FVN asked Mayor Sharon Gaetz if the removal of the washroom facilities was from a complaint from neighbours, the BIA – Business Improvement Association or the Business Centre itself.
Gaetz told FVN – “We monitored their use and they were not used as much as they were in the beginning, so we’re (the city) counting on the two at Five Corners.”
