Mission – A fisherman from Mission and his two children were rescued by Mission SAR Search and Rescue, after the water in the Norrish Creek Estuary became too high to wade back to shore.
Around 5:30 Friday evening, the father of two carried his kids (age 8 and 11) across a sandbar to fish while wearing waders, but soon realized the water was too high, plus a strong current were forcing them to hunker down
Mission Search and Rescue president John Lemond, says they did the right thing by staying put. “They were able to get some shelter, they had some plastic bags to cover them up, keep dry, and just waited for us to get out there”
Lemond says it’s the second rescue of that nature to happen in the past two weeks.
