Chilliwack – On Saturday Morning (October 22, 2016 around Midnight) the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 8100 block of Young Road (Chilliwack Motor Inn).

On arrival fire crews were met with heavy smoke and flame venting out a front door and main window of one of the unit’s within the two story motel building.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4. Fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control minimizing fire damage to the unit involved. Four suites sustained minor smoke and heat damage. Occupants within the building safely evacuated and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department.

  1. No mention of the 2 patrons of the hotel that kicked down doors to evacuate everyone and ran into the burning building as they were told there where people inside the burning rooms. These men are heroes and probably suffered extensive smoke inhalation. Thankyou for there being people around that would risk there life to save another
