Chilliwack RCMP Looking For Distracted Drivers

Chilliwack –  Drivers fell under watchful eyes as police looked for folks operating motor vehicles while utilizing electronic devices.

Officers of the Chilliwack RCMP Traffic Section supported by members of Chilliwack Speed Watch targeted the intersection of Vedder and Keith Wilson Roads from 10 a.m. to noon on September 29, 2016 watching for distracted drivers.  The two hour traffic enforcement operation ended with police issuing 3 Distracted Driving and 5 Seat belt violation tickets to drivers.

Distracted driving is preventable:

·         Leave your phone alone and minimize potential distractions before you head out on the road.

·         Plan your route and secure your pets.

·         Keep your eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel.

·         Even the sound of an incoming email or text can be distracting; turn off your phone and put it out of reach.

Chilliwack RCMP would like to acknowledge our partners from ICBC and The Chilliwack Safer City Team for their commitment to the education of Chilliwack motorists on the danger of distracted driving.
