GW Graham SV Grizzlies Football Have No Problems In West Kelowna Blowout

West Kelowna (with files from Laurie Smith) – The sun peeked through the rain clouds and it was a great Saturday for football.

Well for the GW Graham Senior Varsity Grizzlies.

They blew out Mt. Boucherie Bears 69-7 at Rosewood Sports Field.

Next up for the SV Grizzlies are the MJ Mouat Hawks, Friday 7PM October 28 at Exhibition Stadium.

From Coach Laurie Smith –

Lucas Feaver is officially a dual threat QB.

In the Grizzlies 69-7 victory over the Mt Boucherie Bears the GW Graham pivot scrambled 10 times for 75 yards and 3 TDs while 13 of 22 in the air for 227 yards and 3 TDs. Feaver continued his stellar 2022 season by scoring 6 TDs in spectacular fashion. “He is on top of his game right now” explained Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Luke Acheson. “He is seeing the field so well and making things happen with his legs and his arm”. Feaver went to his trusted top 3 targets in the air including Tyson Orregaard with 7 receptions for 118 yards and a TD, Carter Dallas with 7 for 117 and a TD and Braeden Macdonald with 3 catches for 39 yards and a TD. “The offense scored on 10 consecutive possessions this afternoon” said Acheson. “We executed at a high level”. Aiden Hewitt came in as QB in the second half for Feaver and was 6 of 7 for 73 yards and 2 TDs. Maleky Colgiu added 2 rushing TDs and Macdonald had a 13 yard jet sweep TD in the first half.

On Defense the usual suspects were making contributions. Defensive end Vincent Branauer applied constant pressure in the Boucherie Bears backfield with 4 sacks and 6 total tackles and an interception and tackle for loss. Yapo Conteh added 2 sacks and 5 total tackles and a fumble recovery. “We gave up some first downs but didn’t surrender a TD today” noted Defensive Coordinator Ian Parks (the only Bears TD coming on a kickoff return). “I am proud of the energy and execution, even when we installed the second and thirds in the second half – every player we put in the game gave us incredible effort” Parks was very complimentary of the stout defensive play in the second half.

The Grizzlies take on the 3-1 Mouat Hawks for first place in the Eastern Conference next Friday night at 7pm at Exhibition Stadium in Chilliwack.
