Chilliwack Fire – Smoke Alarms Credited For Saving Family From Basement House Fire

Chilliwack – Early Sunday morning (October 3 @2:40AM) Chilliwack Fire was dispatched to a reported fire in a residential home in the 5500 block of Alpine Crescent.

Over 30 Firefighters responded from Halls1, 2,3, 4 and 6 and upon arriving on scene, observed smoke coming from the eaves of a single-family,two-story residential home.

Crews quickly entered the home, located the fire in the basement.

The fire did not spread into the walls or ceiling of the room of origin, preventing further damage from fire. The occupants of the home were asleep at the time of the fire and were alerted to thefire by the home’s smoke alarms.

The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind the public that working smoke alarms save lives. Please test your smoke alarms once per month and replace all smoke alarms every 10 years.

No one was hurt and the cause of this fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire.
