Fraser Health Restrictions Cause Cancellations for Orange Shirt Event, MMIWG Vigil

Chilliwack – Chilliwack Healthier Communities and the PCRS Pacific Community Resources Society have had to cancel two events due to the new gathering restrictions.

From their media release:

Unfortunately due to new COVID restrictions put into place for Chilliwack and the Fraser East region effective immediately, some in-person events and activities that we have previously included in the mail out are now cancelled. Please check the websites of organizations that were going to host events for their updates.

Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) has sent the following announcement:

“We are super sad to announce that a couple of our large outdoor events have been canceled/postponed. Tomorrow’s Truth and Reconciliation Orange Shirt Day Awareness Event and the October 4 Sisters in Spirit MMIWG vigil are cancelled. Please stay tuned in future for new dates once we are able to gather in groups again.”

You can still participate in the Sisters in Spirit MMIWG vigil from home by lighting a candle and placing it in your window on the evening of October 4. You can also post a picture of your candle on the Sisters in Spirit – Chilliwack Facebook page. You can also use a Sisters in Spirit Vigil image as your social media profile picture.
