Chilliwack – In light of the dispute with the ALC Agricultural Land Commission and the City of Chilliwack, over what constitutes a farm based agri-tourism event, comes a change of venue.
In years past, Petey’s Country Christmas has been on the grounds of Fantasy Farms. Owners Gary and Lisa Moran have been trying for the past year, to keep various events going on the farm. That changed when their application to do agri-tourism events was shut down as of November 1 this year.
One major ALC and City concern are the rules over using existing buildings ( like a greenhouse) for events. (From the Garlic festival, to Halloween’s Reapers Haunted Attraction and Corn Maze to Petey’s Country Christmas).
Gary Moran took to Facebook to say that while Fantasy Farms can not continue right now, that won’t mean family events will end:
Do to issues with the Agriculture land Commission and the City of Chilliwack enforcing the ridiculous rule of not allowing us to use our greenhouse for Peteys Country Christmas we are excited to announce the Chilliwack Mall has invited us to decorate the mall and build our country Christmas there. Opening December 1st watch for details and photo packages with Santa.
