Matsqui/Abbotsford – A Matsqui Institution inmate serving a sentence for second-degree murder has died of natural causes.
Correctional Service Canada said that James Tyrone Godfrey passed away at the age of 59 in the intensive care unit at a local hospital on October 16.
Godfrey had been serving a sentence for second-degree murder since April 21, 1980.
This comes just days after a lockdown was lifted at Mission Institution.
