Fraser Valley (Vedder River Chilliwack Fishing Report) – Just a friendly heads-up to anyone planning on fishing in the area this weekend.
Rescue Canada Resource Group is putting on two different swiftwater rescue courses for local Fraser Valley SAR groups. It’ll be taking place on the Vedder river Saturday and Sunday (October 24–25). Due to low water levels they may move around the river valley depending on flow.
During the course, you may hear whistles, see rescue personnel in the water, throw bags being deployed, ropes stretched across sections of the river, and rescue scenarios involving people and equipment.
**A few things to keep in mind:**
– Please try to give training crews plenty of space to work.
– Be aware of ropes, rescue equipment, and personnel operating in the water.
– Some sections of the river may be temporarily occupied during training exercises. They will try to be respectful and be cognizant of certain runs and busy areas.
– If you see someone in the water appearing to be in distress, please be aware that it may be part of a controlled training scenario.
– Please be mindful of your hooks and line if you are fishing above or below a group.
Rescue Canada Resource Group want everyone to be able to enjoy the river safely while allowing rescue personnel to practice the skills needed for real emergencies.
