Hope – Hope RCMP had a busy enough summer with other emergency crews and fires in the Fraser Canyon.
In their latest media wrap, Hope RCMP say they responded to a report of an attempted telecommunications wire theft near the Alexander Bridge. Workers attending the area to repair downed wires observed three suspects believed to be attempting to steal the wire before fleeing into nearby bushes. Officers attended and located three individuals who matched the descriptions provided. All three were identified as residents of other Lower Mainland communities and are known to police. One man initially provided a false identity, and further investigation revealed he was wanted on outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction. He was arrested and held for court. The investigation into the attempted theft and resulting damage remains ongoing.
