Fraser Valley – handyDART riders in the Chilliwack and Central Fraser Valley Regional Transit Systems can choose new ways to book, track and manage their trips.
Through a partnership with Spare, BC Transit is delivering new technology that makes booking and managing trips easier for riders. Riders can now book trips online, through a mobile app or by phone, choosing what works best for them.
New options include:
- Booking online or through a mobile app
- Checking trip details and tracking their bus in real time
- Making changes to trips online or through the app without calling
- Managing trips anytime, from anywhere
The new system also introduces a digital registration process for new handyDART riders. Phone booking remains available, and riders can continue using handyDART as they always have if they prefer. Existing handyDART riders can sign in to the new app and online platform using the phone number or email address associated with their handyDART account.
There are no changes to eligibility, service hours or service areas. The service itself remains the same, with added tools to improve the overall rider experience. As a shared public transit service, handyDART must serve as many eligible riders as possible, and this new technology will help support that goal.
This launch is the first step in bringing modern and consistent technology to handyDART services across the province. The innovative technology will also provide BC Transit with better data to forecast demand, support future service planning and help identify where service may benefit from expansion. As this is the first launch of this new technology, BC Transit will continue to refine and improve the system based on rider feedback and operational experience.
BC Transit’s Custom Transit Solution Project is jointly funded by the Province of British Columbia and local government partners. The total cost for this project is $5.82 million.
