Growing up Two-Spirit and in care taught me early that not every kid gets the same path. My Cree, Dutch and inter-Indigenous teachings taught me learning can happen anywhere, and every student deserves a path that helps them thrive for who they are.
As a former youth in care, I know what it’s like to carry more than a backpack into school.
I also know how much it can change things when someone sees what you’re capable of and helps you find another way forward.
I want to help build a school system where every student can find their place, build on who they are, and leave knowing they have something meaningful to contribute.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a lot more about who I am, what I believe, and what I want to bring to the Chilliwack School Board.
