Abbotsford – The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce will host a live-streamed candidates’ debate on September 9th, ahead of the Abbotsford-Mission provincial by-election, providing voters and the business community with an opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to represent the riding.
Abbotsford-Mission By-Election Candidates’ Debate

All registered candidates in the Abbotsford-Mission by-election will be invited to participate.
The debate will be moderated by Dr. Hamish Telford of the University of the Fraser Valley and will focus on key economic, business and community issues facing Abbotsford-Mission.
The Abbotsford Chamber is hosting the debate as a non-partisan forum and will provide participating candidates with a fair and consistent opportunity to share their perspectives with voters.
The debate is being professionally produced as a digital event. There will be no in-person participation or public audience. Members of the community are encouraged to watch the live broadcast through the Chamber’s YouTube channel, and to register to attend on the Chamber website to receive an event reminder.

About the Moderator:
Hamish Telford is an associate professor of political science at the University of the Fraser Valley. He is the author of Engaging Canadian Politics (Northrose, 2021), and Talking Past Each Other: Quebec and the Federal Dialogue in Canada, 1867-2017 (Peter Lang, 2018). He is a past president of the BC Political Studies Association, and he twice served on the board of the Canadian Political Science Association. He is a frequent commentator on BC and Canadian politics in the national and international media.
