Fraser Valley/Victoria (with files from Elections BC/Black Press) – As per Elections BC, the candidate nomination period for the Abbotsford-Mission provincial by-election closed at 1PM September 5.
This is to replace MLA MLA Reann Gasper resigned on Aug. 22 to allow Findlay to run for the seat. Gasper was elected in 2024, defeating the incumbent Alexis with more than 55 per cent of the vote.
Premier David Eby called the byelection for the riding a week after Gasper stepped down.
There are five candidates representing five registered political parties:
Official results will be announced on Thursday, October 1 after the completion of final count.

Individuals are eligible to vote in provincial by-election if they are:
a Canadian citizen,
18 or older on Saturday, September 26, 2026,
a resident of the Abbotsford-Mission electoral district, and
a resident of British Columbia since March 25, 2026.
Saturday, September, 26, 2026 is the last day to vote in the Abbotsford-Mission by-election. Voting places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Advance voting is available from Friday, September 18, 2026 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Advance voting is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The list of voting places will be available at wheretovote.elections.bc.ca/abm.
Eligible voters can also vote at the Abbotsford-Mission district electoral office from now until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The Abbotsford-Mission Electoral District Office is located at: E 100-7871 Stave Lake St, Mission, BC.
The office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Voters can also request a vote by mail package at elections.bc.ca/votebymail until September 20, 2026.
Individuals can register to vote or update their voter information at elections.bc.ca/register until September 14. Having an up-to-date voter registration will save time when voting. After September 14, eligible individuals can still register or update their information when they vote.
Preliminary results will be announced as soon as possible after the close of voting at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
