Abbotsford – The City of Abbotsford has launched It’s Your Vote Abbotsford, to inform, educate, and encourage residents to vote in the 2026 Local General Election on October 17.
‘Abbotsford Votes’ buttons and stickers will be available at City Hall, Abbotsford Recreation Centre, and Matsqui Recreation Centre. Post a picture of yourself using the #itsyourvoteabbotsford to share your civic pride and reasons for voting in this election.
Lawn signs and decals will be placed around the city with QR codes linking residents to important election information, including:
Voting options:
Three voting options are available for eligible voters: Voting by Mail; Advance Voting; and General Voting Day.
- Voting by Mail: Mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8 p.m. on October. 17, 2026. Additional details regarding this process will be available by the end of August, at www.abbotsford.ca/elections/voter-information.
- Advance Voting: Advance voting opportunities will be held between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. The list of locations for Advance Voting will be available by the end of August, at www.abbotsford.ca/elections.
- General Voting Day: Polls will operate between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. A full list of locations will be available by the end of August at www.abbotsford.ca/elections.
Who you’re voting for:
Voters will select one Mayor, eight City Councillors, and seven School Trustees.
How to be a candidate:
Nomination packages are available online and at City Hall. The nomination period opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1 and closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 11, with the campaign period beginning Saturday, September 19.
