Chilliwack – CSAR Chilliwack Search and Rescue is in Chilliwack River Valley recently responded to a distress call from two hikers in the mountains near Chilliwack Lake.
The pair and their dog had taken longer than anticipated to complete the trail and ended up stranded in the dark.
Without proper seasonal clothing, headlamps, food/water, or emergency supplies, they called for help and CSAR responded.
Our volunteers hiked into the night to locate the pair, change out their wet clothes for dry layers, feed/hydrate/and warm them up, and then hike them safely off the mountain.
Please remember:
-conditions at the bottom will be different from what you’ll find at the top.
-it gets dark if you don’t bring more than cellphone lights.
-you’ll get hungry if you don’t pack spare food.
-You’ll be cold if you wear street shoes in the snow.
-you’ll be hard to find if you don’t tell anyone where you’re going.
Transition into a safe autumn outdoors by packing The 10 Essentials and leaving a trip plan.
