Abbotsford (Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce) – With Abbotsford heading to the polls on October 17, the city’s next Mayor and Council will face important decisions about how to manage growth, attract investment, and strengthen our local economy.
From development approvals and public safety to infrastructure and economic competitiveness, decisions made at City Hall have a direct impact on the businesses that create jobs and drive Abbotsford’s prosperity.
Through our Business Voices 2026 campaign, the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce invited all candidates for Mayor and Council to respond to five priorities identified by the business community:
- Becoming the fastest City in BC to do business
- Safe and vibrant business districts
- Infrastructure that keeps pace with growth
- Building an economic development engine to attract investment
- Closing Abbotsford’s amenity gap

Mayoral Candidates Make Their Case
On October 7, the Chamber joined the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, FV Canadian Homebuilders Association, Downtown Abbotsford, Tourism Abbotsford and Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association to host a non-partisan Mayoral Candidates Debate.
Sukhi Dhami, Ross Siemens, and Paul Mahil took part in a discussion about Abbotsford’s economic future, addressing housing affordability, public safety, infrastructure, investment, and municipal governance.
For the business community, the stakes are significant. Abbotsford is a major economic centre for agriculture, manufacturing, aerospace, and international trade. Ensuring our city remains competitive requires more than accommodating growth. It requires a clear commitment to the conditions that allow businesses to invest, expand, and create jobs.
Watch the Debate. Make Your Voice Count.
The Abbotsford Chamber is strictly non-partisan. Our role is to put business priorities on the agenda, give candidates an opportunity to outline their commitments, and help voters make informed decisions.
