Fraser Valley – SEPTEMBER 22 UPDATE from Mandy Dhillon: We raised $20,000 for SARA for Women.
To every person who donated, shared and showed up, I cannot adequately express how much I appreciate you.
Every dollar mattered. Every share mattered. Every person who showed up mattered.
THIS IS COMMUNITY.
Still, $20,000 is just scratching the surface.
Last year, 4,000 women and children were turned away.
4,000.
That number should stop us.
It saddens me that I could not impress upon more people just how urgent this need is. Maybe numbers that big have become too easy to read, feel terrible about for a moment, and then scroll past.
I set a goal of $55,000.
We are $35,000 short.
So let me make $35,000 feel a little less impossible.
1,400 people × $25 = $35,000.
That is it.
Twenty five dollars from one human being to another.
I walked 100KM because I wanted people to understand the distance that can exist between leaving violence and actually finding safety.
I finished the 100KM.
The need did not end when I stopped walking.
We have barely scratched the surface.
I did my 100KM.
I am asking 1,400 people to do $25.
Not because $25 will solve this crisis.
Because 1,400 people deciding that another human being’s safety matters can.
Human being to human being.
For her. For her children. For all of us.
No woman should have to walk alone.
Freedom from violence is a human right.
ORIGINAL STORY – 100KM is a long way to walk.
For a woman trying to rebuild her life after violence, the road can be much longer.
That is what 100KM FOR HER represents.
On Saturday September 19, Mandy Dhillon will walk 100KM from Chilliwack toward Vancouver to raise awareness and funds in support of SARA for Women Society and the work they do providing safety, support and resources for women experiencing violence.
On Sunday September 20, the final steps become ours to walk together.
Every donation matters. Every share matters. Every person willing to stand beside women matters.

UPDATE – AbbyPD is proud to support the ‘100KM for Her’ walk on Sept 19th to raise awareness on Intimate Partner and Gender-Based violence.
Members of the AbbyPD team, along with the AbbyPD Purple Charger, will be on hand to support Mandy Dhillon as she passes through Abbotsford on her fundraising walk for SARA for Women. She is expected to arrive at approximately 7:00 a.m. near Lepps Farm Market on Clayburn Road for the Abbotsford leg of her journey.
