Cultus Lake (Cultus Lake Community/CBC/Now Media) – AUGUST 10 UPDATE from RCMP : Chilliwack RCMP continue efforts to locate the 13-year-old youth believed to have entered the water after falling from a paddleboard on August 8, 2026.
The search continued throughout the weekend with the support of Chilliwack Search and Rescue. The RCMP E Division Underwater Recovery Team (URT) has now attended the area and is assisting in the ongoing response.
Entrance Bay remains closed to facilitate these operations. The public, including boaters, is asked to stay clear of the area and avoid interfering with responders. Due to the heavy silt on the lake bottom, any disturbance can significantly reduce underwater visibility and hinder work being conducted in the area.

AUGUST 8 ORIGINAL STORY – Upper Fraser Valley Regional RCMP responded to a report of a possible drowning at Cultus Lake.
At approximately 1:21 pm., on August 8, 2026, Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a 13-year-old female youth, reported missing and believed to be in the waters of Cultus Lake.
The 13-year-old youth was reportedly floating on a paddleboard when she is believed to have suffered a medical emergency. The youth was not wearing a life jacket and is believed to have entered the water as she fell off of the paddleboard.
Police officers along with Chilliwack Fire, BC Emergency Health Services and Chilliwack Search and Rescue are on-scene, conducting search and rescue efforts.
Police are asking the public to avoid the ‘Entrance Bay’ area of Cultus Lake Saturday as this is an active search and rescue operation.
