Chilliwack – The history of Tydel Foods is like a roller coaster. Plenty of ups and downs and sideways. For years, Tydel Foods Seniors Program fed over 800 seniors in Chilliwack.
Between paying bills, the occasional break in and a few other financial and legal obstacles, Tydel Foods kept going. Brigida Crosbie, along with her husband and daughters kept up the fight.
From her social media posting November 26: (Facebook link is here)
WE DID IT !! We actually did it.
I don’t even know how to put into words what I’m feeling right now.
For years, TYDEL FOODS carried the weight of the Seniors Program – feeding over 800 seniors in Chilliwack, supporting Indigenous daycare families, helping struggling families and feeding those struggling with homelessness and addiction daily with free food, sandwiches, and love.
We gave everything we had, and when I say everything, I mean everything. Tony and I poured our own money into it, over $250,000. to continue to provide food to our most vulnerable, because turning our backs was never an option.
But I knew we couldn’t carry it alone anymore.
So we took the leap. We applied. We prayed. We waited. We cried. We fought through the exhaustion, the paperwork, the fear, and the uncertainty.
And today… TODAY CRA called and told me we are officially approved.!!
COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society is now a REGISTERED CHARITY.
The TYDEL FOODS Seniors Program has now transitioned into COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society, where it will continue to serve our seniors with love, dignity, and compassion.
I sobbed on the phone. Full-on cried. The woman from CRA had no idea that her words were changing the lives of hundreds and hundreds of people – seniors, the homeless, vulnerable families, and generations to come. She had no idea how heavy this journey has been, or how sacred this moment feels.
This means the Seniors Program that was once carried by TYDEL FOODS is now protected, supported, and strengthened under COMMUNITY ANGELS Food and Housing Support Society.
This means the Indigenous daycare, the families, the homeless, the meals, the love – it now has a future. A foundation. Stability. Hope.
TYDEL FOODS WILL ALWAYS PUT PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT!
We did it. By the grace of God, we did it and you are a part of this miracle
Thank you to every single person who believed in us, stood beside us, donated, prayed, volunteered, and loved the most vulnerable, as much as we do. Thank you for seeing good instead of bad. For treating people with love and respect.
And For lifting us when we were too tired to stand.
This journey has broken us and rebuilt us – and today, it healed something so deep in my heart.
God bless you all.
God bless COMMUNITY ANGELS.
God bless the people we serve.
