Chilliwack Fire – Garage Fire on South Sumas Road

Chilliwack – Early Wednesday morning (November 19th at approximately 5:15AM), the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire in the 45000 block of South Sumas Rd. Approximately 20 Firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 responded to the scene and discovered heavy fire and smoke showing from the garage area of the home.

Crews quickly secured a water supply and deployed hose streams from the exterior and interior of the garage, along with completing ventilation operations to minimize smoke, fire and water damage. This fire had the potential to spread rapidly up the wood siding on the exterior of the building.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported at this fire, and the fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department officials.
