Mission RCMP and the Mission Fire Rescue Service responded to a rural property on Shaw Street around 1:45 am on November 6, after a neighbour reported a house was on fire. First responders arrived to find the house fully engulfed, and were advised that one of the residents may not have made it out. Sadly, after the fire was extinguished, a deceased adult female was located inside. One other male went to hospital for smoke inhalation, but no other serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigators from Mission RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit and the Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Service will be working with fire investigators to try to identify how the fire started. Anyone who was in the area and has any information about the fire is asked to call Mission RCMP, at 604-826-7161.
