Car into Fraser River Off Ballam Road – Elderly Woman Died

Chilliwack – Sirens were blasting through Downtown Chilliwack started around 2:45PM Friday Afternoon (October 3), in response to a vehicle that left Ballam Road and went into the Fraser River.

Chilliwack EMS ad SAR attened.

Two people were in the vehicle, one of whom rescued by a passing boater, still unconscious.

This is near the site of a serious crash in 2016 and in October 2020, two young women died in a fatal rollover crash on Ballam Road.

Black Press reports that a 71-year-old Chilliwack woman died when the vehicle she was travelling in plunged into the Fraser River on Friday (Oct 3) afternoon.
