Mission/Hatzic – MFRS Mission Fire Rescue Service responded to a structure fire, Tuesday morning at 3:30 a.m. on Catchpole Avenue in Hatzic.
The house was fully involved when initial crews arrived and the fire had spread to the neighbouring home.
Firefighters entered the adjacent structure and extinguished the fire that was spreading through the attic and roof saving the house.
The first house was heavily damaged. The cause is currently unknown and an investigation will take place today.
According to Chief Mark Goddard, “Quick action by the crews saved in excess of $1 million in property as the adjacent house will be repaired.”
Ten residents were displaced between the two houses and were assisted by Mission ESS.
