UPDATE – Two Barn Fires on Blackburn Road

Chilliwack – Before 6:30 AM on Wednesday January 15, a two alarm fire brought out five Chilliwack Fire Hall crews.

Two empty poultry barns burned to the ground. The farm on Blackburn Road near Keith Wilson.

No livestock was lost and no one was injured.

UPDATE (Chilliwack Fire) – At 6:30am the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 5800 block of Blackburn Rd.
43 firefighters responded from Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. On arrival, fire crews confirmed there was a working structure fire with two barns heavily involved in fire. Fire crews worked quickly to perform an exterior attack while securing a water supply to bring the fire under control. Hose streams were also deployed to protect adjacent barns and structures, confining the damage to the two structures initially involved. The two barns initially involved were destroyed by the fire.
There was no firefighter, or civilian injuries.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
