Winter Storm Warning for Coquihalla and Highway 3, Potential for Flakes in Valley

Fraser Valley/Coquihalla – 5PM Sunday February 25:

From City of Abbotsford – The Hub Of The Fraser Valley: With weather reports predicting light snow overnight, crews are out salting roads. The temperature is expected to drop to freezing in the morning and may make roads and sidewalks icy. Please drive and walk with caution!

From Environment Canada:

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.for: Coquihalla Highway – Hope to Merritt, Highway 3 – Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass, Trans-Canada Highway – Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, Highway 3 – Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, Manning – Skagit Valley, and Yoho Park – Kootenay Park.

Sunday evening into overnight and early Monday morning.

Additional snowfall amounts: 5 to 10 cm except 10 to 15 cm for Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

The Pacific storm system continues to bring heavy snow to the mentioned routes. Snow heavy at times is expected to persist into overnight tonight.

Strong gusty winds are accompanying the heavy snow which is further reducing visibilities in blowing snow.
