Hope – In a recent presentation to the Council, representatives from the Hope Mountain Centre reviewed their successes of 2023, outlined ambitious trail plans for 2024, and officially submitted a funding request for the upcoming year. In an official statement, Gurvinder Sodhi, Communication Advisor of District of Hope, conveyed the key insights presented during this session.
Hope Mountain Center highlighted the diverse array of programs they conduct, including educational initiatives for schools, outdoor activities for Indigenous youth, Manning Park interpretive programs, and various conservation projects such as grizzly bear monitoring and the Black Bear Committee. Hope Mountain Center also showcased their impactful work through Summer Trail Crews, emphasizing significant trail improvements in key areas such as Hudson’s Bay Company Trail, Hope Bike Park, Tikwalus Trail, Dragon Back Trail, Hope Lookout, Thacker Mountain, and many others.
In recognition of their efforts, the District of Hope financially supported the organization with $37,500 in 2023. Expressing satisfaction with the results achieved and the positive contributions made to the community, the District of Hope has extended its support further by granting $40,000 for the year 2024.
The council is working tirelessly to help fund and champion causes that align with the community’s values, demonstrating a dedication to the betterment of the region. As Hope Mountain Center gears up for another year of impactful projects, the additional financial support is expected to greatly assist continued success in trail development, conservation efforts, and community-building initiatives.
