Fraser Valley – CUPW Canadian Union of Postal Workers informed FVN that one a couple of workers (at their discretion) tried to make it into work on Wedneday January 17 through the snow. It was deemed too dangerous to deliver mail let alone drive trucks in the weather.

Due to the severe weather conditions, the scheduled Recycling and Compost collection for the Brown Zone is canceled today. Please secure your waste bins until collection is rescheduled. Collection in Chilliwack
The winter storm warning remains in effect with heavy and blowing snow. All available crews and equipment worked overnight on the roads and continue Wednesday. Crews are also clearing sidewalks, bus stops, and pedestrian crossings on the Vedder/Yale corridor. Please limit travel to essential trips only until the weather improves. Garbage Pickup in Hope
Due to adverse road conditions, our garbage pickup trucks will be staying off the roads Wednesday. The recovery plan for Hope is to reschedule today’s pickup to Saturday, ensuring there will be no interruption to the Thursday and Friday schedule.
The decision to suspend garbage collection is due to hazardous conditions in the designated collection areas that have proven too dangerous for the waste
collection crews to access. The slippery conditions pose a risk not only to the safety of the crews but also to the public.
