When you’re in uniform, the stress is compounded.
RCMP Sgt Krista Vrolyk has announced her retirement.

Wow! What a weird feeling! After 23 years with the Mounties, I am winding down and preparing for the next chapter… retirement.
It’s definitely surreal and very bittersweet. I have so many amazing memories! Thursday is my last day in the office pending my official retirement date early in the new year.
I wanted to take the time to thank each of you, our local media partners, for the job that you do everyday. As the UFVRD Media Relations Officer, I have appreciated the support and relationship I have developed with each of you over the past couple of years. I have been doing Media for the RCMP for 20 years and I can honestly say that I have had a chance to report on everything from stolen bikes to homicides and from organized crime to child safety talks. I have so many fond memories and many of them involve sharing the “news” with you. It truly has been an honour.
I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life and to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what that entails. I definitely have some fun travel planned, but I am looking forward to coming up for air, catching my breath and figuring out what life outside the uniform is like. What I do know is that I am incredibly proud of this community, the RCMP and our local Members who put their lives on the line each and every day to protect our community. I know that I will continue to seek out opportunities to help people and to do good in our community.
