2PM Saturday City of Abbotsford Update on Flooding with Mayor Henry Braun (VIDEO)

Abbotsford – Crews continue to make progress repairing the Sumas Dyke between Marion Road and Number 4 Road. The western part of the “bowl” gas seen a drop but the eastern section near Yarrow/Highway 1/Vedder Canal is still rising. Some 250 cows remain in peril.

Mayor Braun choked up with emotion as he noted that the raising of the flood gates has relieved some pressure.

The next weather event heading for the area by Tuesday/Wednesday is of concern. If the rain moves north or slows down off the coast, that will buy time for dyke repair.
