UPDATE – ERT and Chilliwack RCMP Wrapping Up Investigation to Incident in Downtown

Chilliwack – UPDATE – FVN has learned one person is in custody. More to Come.

RCMP Cpl Mike Rail told FVN that on Friday morning, police closed off Wellington between Five Corners and the Service Canada building, across from the Royal Hotel (Main Street).

They were dealing with an incident, but the public was not in danger. Shortly after 8:15AM, there was a call of “shots fired” and Central Elementary was in a hold-and-secure. The incident is also near the new daycare which is now in the building that once housed Decades Coffee.

This is not related to an early morning stabbing by O’Connor Chrysler on Yale.

ERT Emergency Response Team is on the seen and downtown businesses will be closed for some time.

Chilliwack BIA Director Trevor MacDonald praised RCMP for their work in keeping the public safe..
