Ottawa/Fraser Valley – Let the arguments begin. Was this worth a $600M Election during a pandemic?
Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remains in office. the final National results were almost a carbon copy of 2019 for the LIberals. The NDP made a small gain at the expense of the Conservatives.
The three Fraser Valley Conservative MP’s retain their seats. The PPC did well in Chilliwack-Hope with just under 8%.
Mark Strahl, Conservative candidate for Chilliwack—Hope released the following statement after being re-elected as Member of Parliament for Chilliwack—Hope:
“I would like to thank the people of Chilliwack—Hope for their continued support. It is an honour to continue to serve our community as your Member of Parliament. I would also like to thank the other candidates in Chilliwack—Hope for putting their names and their ideas forward.”
“While the national results are disappointing for Conservatives, I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve as a strong, principled voice for Chilliwack—Hope in Ottawa as a member of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.”
“Our country is not yet out of the greatest crisis we’ve experienced in decades. The economy is shaky and the cost of living is spiraling out of control. The country is wracked by uncertainty and anxiety. People are hurting and many are afraid of being left behind. We cannot allow our country to slip into an “us-versus-them” society and we must find a way to come together after the most divisive campaign in recent memory.”
“The people of Chilliwack—Hope are hardworking, honourable people. I will never forget where I come from and who I work for as I take the common sense of the common people to the House of Commons.”
From Chilliwack-Hope Candidate NDP DJ Pohl:
Congratulations Mark Strahl on your re-election. Thank you to all the candidates who put their names forward to run. Democracy is better when local people step forward to put their names on the ballot. Kelly Velonis, Arthur Green and Rob Bogunovic
