Again, Giants With No Luck Against PG

Kamloops (Josh Olund BCIT Radio A&E) – After the Vancouver Giants dropped their previous meeting against the Prince George Cougars, the Giants didn’t want to have a repeat on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it didn’t really change as the Giants lost again to the Cougars with a final score of 3-0.

To the Giants credit, they were able to keep the Cougars tamed as they went through the entire first period without giving up a goal, but they also wouldn’t be able to get on of their own. The Giants were also outshot by the Cougars 6-9 in the first.

However, the scoring would begin in the second period as the Cougars would be the first to score at 4:36 from a goal by Koehn Ziemmer to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. With a little over three minutes left in the period, the Cougars would add their second goal of the period and it would once again be from Ziemmer at17:31 to make it a 2-0 game for the Cougars. And it would stay that way until the end of the second period, even though the Giants outshot the Cougars 12-4 in the second period. In the third, the Giants were able to limit the Cougars chances, but they weren’t able to muster any offence themselves and ultimately would surrender another goal to the Cougars at 18:31from Tyson Upper to make it 3-0 and it would ultimately end up being the final tally of the game.

After that loss to the Cougars, the Giants have dropped to third in the B.C. Division with a record of 10-9-0 which puts them now eight points behind the Kamloops Blazers for the top spot.Their next game will be against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday, May 7 at 7:00 PM in Kamloops.
