Chilliwack Fire With Busy Sunday Including Possible Arson Of Homeless Camp Trailer Fire

Chilliwack – On Sunday morning, Chilliwack Fire started a busy day.

First, around 10:30AM, 30 firefighters from Chilliwack firehalls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to a reported trailer fire in a homeless camp located in the Landing Drive area. When firefighters arrived, they found a travel trailer fully involved.

Access to the site was challenging but firefighters managed to control and extinguish the fire. Firefighters confirmed the trailer was vacant.

The trailer is considered a total loss.

No one was hurt.

This fire may have been deliberately set and is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department and RCMP fire investigators.

That afternoon around 3:35PM, 45 firefighters from Chilliwack firehalls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to a report of smoke in a house located in the 9700 block of Corbould Street. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke in a single storey residential house.

Firefighters entered the structure and located a fire near the main entrance of the house. The fire was quickly extinguished and confirmed it had not extended beyond the area of origin.

There is minimal fire, smoke and water damage to the house.

Again, no one was hurt.

Cause of the fire is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department fire investigators.
