Chiefs Shut Out By PG 2-0

Chilliwack (Josh Olund – BCIT Journalism) – The Chilliwack Chiefs fell short to the Prince George Spruce Kings 2-0 on Wednesday night.

This was the Chief’s second straight against the Kings. In their previous meeting, the Chief’s came out on top with a 3-2 shootout win back on April18th.

However, the Chief’s biggest issue in this game was the inability to stay out of the penalty box.As the Chiefs took a total of six penalties. The Kings opened the scoring at 11:33 of the first period off a goal from Kolton Cousins. After no scoring in the second period, the Kings scored on the power-play off a Jackson Munro cross-checking penalty in the third period from Christian Buono. That would prove to be enough as Kings goalie, Aaron Trotter, held the fort to secure the shutout. Earning him first star honours.

With this loss, the Chiefs now sit behind Prince George for the top spot in the Chilliwack Pod.

Their record is now 7-4-0The Chiefs next opponent will be the Merritt Centennials , Thursday afternoon, April 23rd at 5:00 PM.
