CHWK House Fire On South Sumas Road – Two Cats Died, Occupants OK

Chilliwack – On Saturday morning @9:35AM, firefighters from Chilliwack firehalls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 responded to a house fire located on the 45800 block of South Sumas Road.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find a fully involved 2 storey single family residential home. Fire crews contained the fire to the home. The fire also damaged two pickup trucks parked adjacent to the garage.

The house was completely destroyed.

An adult male and his two teen age sons managed to safely evacuate. The adult male suffered minor smoke inhalation and a minor burn to one arm. BC Ambulance paramedics treated him on scene. Unfortunately two cats did not survive.

Outside of the pets, no one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is considered accidental and is under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department.
