Harrison Hot Springs – Fraser Health has closed the mineral pools at the Harrison Resort until Monday after two complaints of people coming down with rashes.
On Friday, Fraser Health closed the pools after at failed inspection.
They received two complaints, one in January and one recently.
The rash has symptoms related to a bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics.
Social media, as expected, went into overload, with some trolls trying to connect this to the recent outbreak of measles in the Lower Mainland. This is not the case.
On the resort’s website it states:
*** POOL CLOSURE ADVISORY*** ALL FIVE MINERAL POOLS ARE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25th. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. GUESTS STAYING IN THE RESORT DURING THIS TIME PERIOD WILL HAVE COMPLIMENTARY USE OF THE VILLAGE PUBLIC POOL.
Mineral pools are closed until Monday. We apologize for the inconvenience. Guests staying in the resort during this time will have complimentary use of the village public pool. We will provide more information as it's made available to us. We appreciate your patience.
