Fraser Valley – Hide and Squeaks by Leslie Dueck is a true story of a little girl (now in the Fraser Valley, from Vancouver’s Downtown East Side) trying to survive in a world where hope is hard to find.
Living with a mother who could not care for her, Laura often finds herself alone. But as you read Laura’s stories, you will see how she finds joy in the smallest things. Through some very special people and her special animal friends, Laura sees that her life is not so hopeless after all.
With the drug issues front and foremost in our news, the author would like to see this book as a resource to give hope to children that in their pain they are not alone.
Leslie is a Preschool Teacher who loves writing songs and poems. She is thrilled to use her gift of words to help Laura share her story with young children everywhere.
Illustrator Lucy Bruni has always loved being creative with her artwork and photography. She enjoys beauty all around her and is honoured to be able to help bring Laura’s story to life.
Lucy and Leslie, who both reside in the Fraser Valley, have been friends for over 20 years.
