Mission/Kent/Agassiz – Correctional Service of Canada issued releases on two inmate deaths but did not elaborate on their demise.
On Thursday (April 26), Eric Shawn Carty, an inmate from Kent Institution died while in custody.
At the time of his death, the 38 year old Carty had been serving a life sentence for first degree murder and conspire to commit murder since January 23, 2014.
The following day, Friday April 27, Andrew Clark Crowder, an inmate from Mission Institution died while in custody.
At the time of his death, the 29 year old Crowder had been serving a sentence of 4 years for aggravated assault since July 19, 2016.
The next of kin have been notified in both cases.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances and has contacted the police and the coroner.
