Harrison – In the 1990s, a wave of Celtic music, particularly from Canada’s east coast, started to hit the airwaves across the country. Music and dance traditions that had been localized to regions of the country for hundreds of years suddenly got national exposure. One of the finest young fiddlers to emerge from that “Celtic wave”, Richard Wood, will be hitting the stage at the Harrison Memorial Hall on February 17 with his musical partner, guitarist and singer Gordon Belsher.
For the past twenty-plus years, Wood has toured with Belsher, who not only backs him up on rhythm guitar, but sings an array of songs, ranging from original compositions to traditional songs and his own versions of pop and rock covers. A 40 year veteran of concerts, ceilidhs, conventions, and pubs, his engaging personality, charming voice, and versatility on a variety of instruments are a recipe for a memorable evening.
The Concert will begin at 8:00pm on Saturday, February 17 inside the Harrison Memorial Hall. Doors will open at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at harrisonfestival.com, by calling 604-796-3554, or at the Agassiz Shoppers Drug Mart.
