Abbotsford Police – Tailgate Theft Arrests (Yes, Really!)

Abbotsford – On May 26, 2017, the Crime Reduction Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department arrested 38-year-old David AHNER in relation to the theft of vehicle tailgates.

Since early 2016, police have received reports of over 80 stolen tailgates in the jurisdictions of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack and Langley.

The cost of replacing a single tailgate can be up to $10,000.

The majority of the tailgates that are reported stolen involve trucks in the model years of 2008 to 2016. Truck owners are reminded to lock their tailgates as they are more easily stolen when left unlocked.

David AHNER has been charged in relation to the theft of two Ford F350 tailgates from Langley (2016 model vehicles) and one Ford F350 tailgate (2014 model vehicle) from Abbotsford.

He faces 3 counts of Theft over $5000 and one charge of Driving While Disqualified.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text us at 222973 (abbypd).
